At the Southington Housing Authority (SHA), we’re doing more than providing housing — we’re setting the standard for excellence across the Northeast. Recognized by our industry peers for our leadership, commitment and service, SHA continues to play a critical role in driving progress, dignity, and opportunity for the people we serve – our residents.
Located in Southington, Connecticut, our mission is clear: to provide and preserve safe, decent, and affordable housing for eligible residents within our community. We proudly serve low-income elderly individuals (aged 62 and older) and younger adults with disabilities, as determined by the Social Security Administration and the State of Connecticut.
We believe that affordable housing is the foundation for personal stability and community well-being. That’s why we manage a carefully maintained portfolio of efficiency and one-bedroom apartments—each designed to promote independent living in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
But our work goes beyond our bricks and mortar. SHA connects residents with supportive services, benefit assistance programs, and health and wellness initiatives, partnering with local and state agencies to ensure every individual has the tools to thrive.
Through sound property management, responsive maintenance, and a culture built on dignity and inclusion, the Southington Housing Authority is pivoting toward a future at a pace and scale never seen before. Our recent multimillion-dollar renovation grant to rehabilitate our oldest property, Pulaski Terrace at Carter Lane, represents a bold investment in the community — a tangible step forward in modernizing our housing portfolio while honoring our legacy of care and service. This transformative project underscores SHA’s unwavering commitment to progress, quality, and resident well-being.
