About the Southington Housing Authority
Established in 1948, the Southington Housing Authority (SHA) provides safe, affordable, and well-maintained housing for low- and moderate-income elderly and disabled individuals in the Town of Southington. SHA is committed to enhancing the quality of life for our residents by offering affordable housing options and supportive services, fostering a sense of community, and promoting self-sufficiency. The Authority operates under state and federal guidelines, ensuring compliance with housing regulations while maintaining a strong focus on community engagement and sustainability. Through responsible management and dedicated leadership, SHA continues to fulfill its mission of delivering secure and affordable housing options that enrich the lives of those it serves.
The Southington Housing Authority (SHA) actively collaborates with various local organizations and outreach programs, including The Southington Community Center, Bread for Life, The Calendar House, Southington Rotary, the Southington Police Dept and the Southington Fire Dept., along with various government entities. Our dedicated staff, with the Resident Services Coordinator as the primary point of contact, plays a key role in facilitating communication and fostering collaboration with these services. Through these partnerships, SHA enhances the quality of life for residents by providing access to essential services, community outreach initiatives, recreational activities, social programs, and volunteer opportunities. These efforts ensure the best possible support and resources for our tenants, fostering a thriving and engaged community.
The Southington Housing Authority (SHA) oversees and manages four housing complexes in town, comprising 180 units and serving over 200 residents. SHA does not manage any other properties in Southington. These developments provide safe, affordable housing for elderly and disabled individuals in the community. Our housing portfolio includes:
